Here is what I feel people will need to get the shots that I am sure they will expect to get.

1: Tripod. Without this do not expect to get anything worth while as you cannot handhold your camera for the length of time the shutter will be open.

2: Cable Release. An important accessory, however if your camera does not have the capability to accept one and your camera has a self timer we can make that work.

3: Adjustable camera. The camera has to have the capability to select a manual shutter speed, in this case the "BULB" setting and also have the ability to select a manual aperture (f/stop). If you do not have a "BULB" setting but have the ability to select an exposure of up to 30 seconds, then we can make this work as well.

4: Wide Angle Lens. Any lens will work but a wide angle (at least 35mm) will give you more of the trestle but realize that with digital you might have an amplification of your focal length due to the size chip you have.

These are the minimums needed to be able to get the shots that I anticipate folks are going to want to walk away with.

Photography has been my passion since I can remember, in fact I cannot remember not having a camera in my hand. I was year book photographer for Jr. High, High school and even in college, even my time in the service found me with a camera recording images.

After retiring from the service I started my own successful Commercial/Industrial photography company specializing in Aviation/Aerospace that would last over twenty years.

Companies such as Bell Helicopter, Hughes Helicopters, McDonnell Douglas, NASA, U.S. Air Force, Aviation Week magazine to name just a few as well as many other non-aviation related companies.

Aviation photography was incredible exciting, but was not my first love, that was saved for railroading and the railroad that kept my attention was the D&RGW and specifically the "Narrow Gauge".

After I retired from my photography business I started to travel again, back to the narrow gauge, and for these past many years I have been recording images by riding the Durango & Silverton and Cumbres & Toltec. This led to a large inventory of images that friends (as well as casual acquaintances) started suggesting that I should put in a book.

After some thought and encouragement of two people I decided to proceed. The project encompasses the remaining narrow gauge locomotives that stretches east from Southern California to Colorado, New Mexico and finally Flint Michigan.

Titled "Narrow Gauge Ghosts of the Rio Grande" the D&RGW's Narrow Gauge Legacy, it features my original photography that I have painstakingly tried to create a look, the likes of Otto Perry, Robert W. Richardson, George Beam, Jackson Thode, John Maxwell and the many other great photographers who have shot the D&RGW while still operating, but are now contained in an amusement park, a museum, a country village and the two largest settings, the Durango & Silverton and the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic.

I have been very fortunate for many years to have my services requested by the Durango & Silverton for special night photography sessions and now that request has been extended to me by the Cumbres & Toltec through Roger Hogan, Alan Loomis and Soni Honneger to do for them what I have done for the D&S by creating night photography for a group that would not otherwise have the opportunity to record what is the magic of night photography.
